Make free vs set free

What is difference between "make free" and "set free"; John 8:32 and Gal 5:1.
............
I could understand that one can be 'set free', but choose to remain in their current state.
One can be 'made free', and choose to pursue the freedom.
Does that make sense?

That is a good question: there is no "set free" in the KJB. Being "made" free is because born again Christians are begotten (i.e. made), whereas to be "set" free would be like loosing a bird from a snare. There is such a thing as being "set at liberty", but that is like a Christian being healed or whatever, which is different to being actually born again.

To be "set" free is just about circumstance and external condition, whereas to be "made" free is about internal condition and way of being.

Thanks; that does make sense inline with:

2Cor 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

.................
Some MVs use 'set free'; I was wondering why they would use that.
