ADVANCING THE ENGLISH BIBLE IS ADVANCING AUSTRALASIA |

The King James Bible was once imported into Australia in vast numbers: from the time of the First Fleet, through the gold rush years, to the post-war boom. Those Bible societies, missionaries and ministers who have been involved in this mighty scattering may not have seen their exceeding great reward, but it has fallen to us, in this latter age, where things have worsened before (we trust) they may be bettered, that we may come into the great harvest, where “Truth shall spring out of the earth.” (Psalm 85:11a).
Now things are grown to the opposite, the last corner of the Earth has been a repository for the Bible, from where it may now come forth multiplied. It is we who must now bring it out, sending it to the nations in great abundance. “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (Isaiah 46:10b). It cannot falter because the purpose of God is manifest throughout the whole matter. He is wanting the Pure Cambridge Edition to be noised abroad.
The Spirit of God does great things where the King James Bible is exalted. “Righteousness exalteth a nation” (Proverbs 14:34a). The secret of the greatness of the British Empire and the United States of America is primarily because of God’s providentially appointed use of the progressing Church in these nations. It is no accident that English is now a global language. In fact, all things have been prepared for our glorious attainment of the fulfilment of Gospel blessings. Our present manifold prosperity is ultimately for this purpose.
The magnifical advancement of our holy cause is on every level. It is the fruition of the Holy Ghost’s implantation of divine knowledge and revelation in a reserved remnant of the Church. It is the overriding possibilities of our national cause over petty ideologies that surround us. Who then, among the enemies, can delay the judgment as it swiftly comes upon them? The Lord has appointed them their recompense, even as we have our just reward.
“Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.” (Psalm 35:26, 27).
Sir Henry Parkes wrote, “Standing before the uplifted veil, let the meanest of us breathe a fervent prayer, that the Almighty may guide the young commonwealth on the high road of her starry future, that her people may be abundantly blessed within these encompassing seas of peace, and that their influence beyond may be a blessing to all mankind.”
